Journalism Career

The ‘Free Press’ is the Fourth Column supporting the Edifice of The Constitution of India, after the three Pillars of  the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary which jointly uphold the Sovereignty of the Republic of India. Journalism is one of the important mass media communications which ensures the Freedom of the Press. Ever since the Indian National Congress Party was established more than 150 years ago for the deliverance of India from slavery and colonialism, educationists, lawyers and journalists were at the forefront of the Purna Swaraj Movement spearheaded by Annie Besant, Motilal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Independent newspapers such as Anand Bazaar Patrika, The Statesman, The Hindu and the Times of India had subjected the Government and the Politicians to fair and fearless criticism to maintain their integrity and probity at all times under the temptation of money, power and political ambitions. We can truthfully say that a Free Press has prevented anarchy and dictatorship in India, as distinct from the neighbouring ‘Supervised Democracies’. Hence, careers in Journalism are highly respected and honourable professions.
