Engineering consultancy is the art and science of advising clients on use of product engineering and development, product testing and quality, and project management for optimum utilization of manpower, material and equipment. Engineering consultancy involves the use of the vast experience of a consortium of engineers in varied specializations to guide client-companies in selection of process and basic plant design,

preparation of detailed engineering specifications for plant & machinery, CAD solutions, CAD, CAM, Solid Works, Pro-E solutions and CAD Modeling.


Eligibility, Entrance Exams and Courses:

It is obvious that there cannot be a separate and single degree course for Engineering Consultancy. Engineering consultancy groups need qualified engineers in all basic fields of engineering such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical etc PLUS engineers who hold additionally, MBA degrees and PG Diplomas in Accountancy, Audit and Quality Management. Hence, aspirants to a career in engineering consultancy should qualify themselves in B.E/B.Tech in basic engineering fields to start with and gain experience therein.

IIT-JEE is one of the sought after entrance examinations for Engineering courses.

A candidate must fulfill each of the following conditions:

  • Can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years.
  • Should have passed (10+2) or equivalent qualifying examination in 2008 or should be appearing in 2009, and secure at least 60% (55% for SC/ST & Physically disabled )
  • Minimum age limit of 25 yrs as on 1st October (30 yrs for SC/ST and PD candidates).

Each State has its own particular eligibility criteria and entrance exams. Some famous Engineering Institutions have their own entrance exams like EAMCET for A.P, KCET for Karnataka and TCET for Tamil Nadu which are usually conducted in the month of May-June.
